All Battery Storage (BESS) transactions in Germany
RP Global has acquired the fully permitted 22 MWp A6 Leiningerland solar PV project from GAIA, located along the A6 motorway in the Leiningerland area of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The three-site, 17.9-hectare project qualifies for EEG remuneration and is planned to begin construction in early 2027. RP Global also plans to add battery storage to the project.
Hansa Battery has sold its 99 MW ready-to-build standalone BESS project near Hilgermissen, Lower Saxony, Germany to a major undisclosed IPP via a competitive process advised by JLL Energy & Infrastructure Advisory. The 100% SPV share sale is expected to reach commercial operation in H2 2028, qualifying for Germany's 20-year grid-fee exemption.
Qair Deutschland has acquired the 19.63 MWp Solarpark Aurachtal in Erlangen-Höchstadt, Bavaria from Friedrich Brehm GmbH & Co. KG. The ready-to-build project is expected to generate approximately 22,000 MWh annually, with construction planned for Q4 2027 and grid connection in Q1 2028. A co-located BESS of up to 20 MWh is also being planned.
Alpiq has acquired the Bollingstedt battery storage project from ECO STOR's project company ECO POWER ONE GmbH. Operational since June 2025 and operating under one of Germany's first Flexible Connection Agreements, the project is one of Germany's most advanced large-scale BESS facilities. ECO STOR retains technical and operational management post-transaction.
Energy tech company Flower has signed a share purchase agreement with Chint Solar Europe to acquire seven ready-to-build battery energy storage projects across five German states, totalling 112 MW / 332.5 MWh. All projects hold grid connections and permits, with commissioning targeted for 2027. Chint Solar will deliver the projects under an EPC agreement and provide long-term O&M. The acquisition brings Flower's German BESS portfolio to approximately 300 MW.
green flexibility has acquired a portfolio of large-scale battery energy storage projects totalling approximately 750 MW / 3 GWh from developer Kajoni in Germany. The projects are participating in the German Reifegradverfahren for high-voltage grid connections. Kajoni will continue developing the projects to Ready-to-Build status, after which green flexibility will lead realisation and long-term operation.
Eku Energy has entered the German market with the acquisition of the Dion battery storage project in Lamspringe, Lower Saxony, from developer NION. The 400 MW / 1,600 MWh project, directly connected to the transmission grid with grid-forming and black-start capability, is one of the largest BESS developments in Germany. Commissioning is planned for end of 2029, with NION continuing development to financial close.
European solar and storage specialist greentech has sold a 27 MWp portfolio of three operational solar PV plants in Bavaria Großheirath I, Großheirath II and Untersiemau to STRABAG. The transaction also includes a co-located BESS development agreement for all three sites. greentech will continue as O&M provider and co-location developer.
Allianz Global Investors has acquired a 51% stake in Green Energy Storage Initiative (GESI), a German battery energy storage platform developing approximately 2.6 GW of large-scale BESS projects across Bavaria and Lower Saxony. Projects are located at strategic transmission grid nodes and are scheduled for commissioning by 2029. This is AllianzGI's second direct equity investment in German battery storage in 2026, following its TotalEnergies partnership announced in March.
Novar has acquired the 100 MWp Untermünkheim solar project in Baden-Württemberg, Germany from Stromernte GmbH. Spread across three locations on privileged infrastructure corridor land, the project also has potential for a co-located 160 MWh BESS. Stromernte will continue as development partner. This is Novar Germany GmbH's first M&A acquisition and the company's first project in southern Germany.
KGAL's renewable energy fund ESPF 5 has acquired a 17.3 MW / 48.8 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Grevesmühlen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany from Fenecon. The nearly completed project is located adjacent to a substation and is expected to be commissioned in mid-2026. Fenecon will continue to develop the project to completion and will operate it thereafter.
Swedish energy tech company Flower International has acquired a 63 MW / 257 MWh ready-to-build battery energy storage system (BESS) in Döllnitz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, from renewable energy company CCE via a share purchase agreement. The fully permitted project marks Flower's first large-scale entry into the German market, with construction expected in 2027 and commercial operation targeted for 2028.
Allianz Global Investors (AllianzGI) has signed an agreement to acquire a 50% stake in a portfolio of 11 large-scale battery energy storage projects in Germany from TotalEnergies, with a total capacity of 789 MW and 1,628 MWh. Developed by Kyon Energy, a TotalEnergies subsidiary, all projects are currently under construction and scheduled for commissioning by 2028. The joint venture involves a total investment of €500 million, with TotalEnergies retaining a 50% stake and continuing as operator.

Ørsted has signed an agreement with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners to divest its entire European onshore renewables business for EUR 1.44 billion. The transaction covers onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage assets across Ireland, the UK, Germany and Spain, with closing expected in Q2 2026.
Green FOX Energy, together with ON Energy, has sold an 85 MWp PV co-location portfolio combining solar and battery storage assets across Germany to a German family office. The portfolio is partly operational and will be fully completed by Q3 2026, supporting over 20,000 households with clean energy.
Milvio Energy has completed the sale of a standalone battery energy storage project and a co-located PV/BESS project in Germany. The hybrid project comprises an 80.4 MWp solar plant and a 70.2 MW battery system and is expected to reach Ready-to-Build status in Q2 2026.
ju:niz Energy has acquired the project rights for a 250 MW / 612 MWh battery storage system from Pacifico Energy Partners, strengthening its co-development strategy and expanding large-scale storage capacity in Germany.
S4 Energy BV, a subsidiary of Castleton Commodities International (CCI), has signed an agreement to acquire a 310 MW portfolio of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects in Germany from Terra One Climate Solutions GmbH. The portfolio includes shovel-ready and advanced-stage projects with expected operational dates between 2026 and 2028, marking S4 Energy's entry into the German market.
