Shell has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement to sell its European onshore renewables portfolio to TotalEnergies. The portfolio comprises approximately 0.5 GW of renewable generation capacity in operation and under development across Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK, plus a development pipeline. The transaction is expected to complete by end of 2026.
Royal Vopak has completed the acquisition of a 79% controlling stake in Green Energy Storage (GES) and taken a final investment decision on a 200 MW / 800 MWh battery energy storage project in Oosterhout, Netherlands, for a total investment of approximately €230 million. Construction is set to begin shortly, with commercial operations expected in H1 2028. Greenchoice will offtake 50% of capacity under an 8-year tolling agreement.
European Energy has completed the divestment of a portfolio of 12 wind turbines (6 MW total) in the municipality of Waadhoeke, Friesland, Netherlands to local Dutch company Westra. European Energy acquired the turbines in 2021 and has managed them since.
BayWa r.e. and GroenLeven have sold a 46 MWp floating solar project in Friesland to a local energy cooperative, the municipality of Tytsjerksteradiel and the Friesland Clean Energy Fund. The project will become the largest floating PV plant in the Netherlands.
