Qualitas Energy Acquires Cero Generation's 5.8 GW European Solar PV and BESS Platform from Macquarie Group

Qualitas Energy has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cero Generation's core European platform from Macquarie Group through Qualitas Energy Fund VI. The 5.8 GW portfolio spans the UK, Italy and Spain, comprising over 2 GW in operation, under construction or at ready-to-build stage and 3.8 GW in development. Cero Generation will continue to operate as an independent Qualitas Energy portfolio company.

5.8 GW portfolio across the UK, Italy and Spain: over 2 GW of assets in operation, under construction or at ready-to-build stage, plus a further 3.8 GW development pipeline. Cero Generation specialises in solar PV and BESS, operating an integrated in-house model across development, construction and operations. The capacity figure reflects operational/RTB/under construction assets only.

Additional information

Cero Generation was established in 2021 as a stand-alone Macquarie portfolio company. Following completion, the business will continue to operate under the Cero Generation brand as an independent portfolio company of Qualitas Energy, retaining local teams and offices in London, Milan and Madrid. Transaction expected to close in the coming months subject to customary conditions. Qualitas Energy was advised by Nomura (M&A), Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (legal), DNV and Kiwa Moroni. This is Qualitas Energy Fund VI's third transaction in 2026, following the 376 MWp Polish solar portfolio and the 164 MWp Illinois solar project.
