Sturdee Energy Acquires 200 MW Masaiti Wind Project in Copperbelt, Zambia from Upepo Energy
Sturdee Energy has acquired the 200 MW Masaiti Wind Project in Mpongwe District, Copperbelt Province, Zambia from Upepo Energy, marking its first entry into the Zambian market. The late-stage development project will connect to ZESCO's 330 kV grid and is planned to be supplemented with solar PV and BESS to deliver 24-hour renewable energy. Sturdee will take full ownership at the start of construction.

Technology details
200 MW onshore wind farm in late-stage development. Grid connection planned at one of ZESCO's 330 kV transmission lines adjacent to the wind farm. Over six years of on-site wind measurements collected across two meteorological masts. Sturdee plans to supplement wind with solar PV and BESS to deliver a 24-hour clean energy profile. Sturdee will take full ownership at the start of construction.
Power purchase agreement (PPA)
Aggregated offtake agreement planned with ZESCO as anchor offtaker, combined with SAPP market participation, local electricity traders and bilateral contracts. Single PPA structure intended to cover wind, solar and BESS output.

Offtake structure will include ZESCO as anchor offtaker, SAPP market participation, local electricity traders and bilateral contracts. Sturdee intends to offer an aggregated 24-hour renewable energy supply under a single PPA combining wind, solar and BESS. Also considering CfD structures for C&I customers. Sturdee currently has 280 MW of renewable energy capacity across the SADC region.
