BayWa r.e. Sells 48.8 MW Vallelunga Wind Farm Project in Sicily, Italy to Alerion

BayWa r.e. has signed an agreement to sell the entire share capital of Sirio Rinnovabili s.r.l., the holding company for the 48.8 MW Vallelunga wind farm project in Sicily, Italy, to Italian renewable energy producer Alerion. Authorised in January 2025, the project spans three municipalities in the provinces of Caltanissetta and Palermo and is expected to generate approximately 120 GWh annually.

Technology details

48.8 MW onshore wind farm authorised in January 2025, with an expected annual net energy production of approximately 120 GWh — sufficient for approximately 45,000 households. Grid connection via a new electrical substation in Cammarata (AG), forming part of the national electricity grid owned by Terna S.p.A. BayWa r.e. oversaw all development activities up to the point of sale. Detailed design, turbine technology selection, construction and installation will be the responsibility of Alerion.
